Amu, a 20-year-old student, returns home from University for the holidays to her vibrant London flat, where she shares a unique cultural identity as a first-generation British, bilingual individual, born and raised by her migrant Indian father.

As they gather around the dinner table, an undercurrent of emotions simmers beneath the surface. Over a heartwarming, home-cooked meal, the duo stands at the precipice of a turning point in their intertwined narrative.

MASALA is a captivating short film that delves into the essence of being a child of migrants, with Amu navigating the complexities of her dual heritage while exploring her role as an adult in relation to her father. The film artfully depicts the challenges of maintaining a strong bond with a parent who has faced obstacles in fully integrating into a new country. Through a touching exploration of love, culture, and self-discovery, MASALA explores the timeless journey of embracing one's roots while forging a unique path in a diverse world.
